Full text of Tsai Eng-meng's message to Dan Wang: Mr. Dan Wang, Hello: I am Tsai Eng-meng, President of Want Want Group, I have some ideas in response to your advices and criticism about my personal opinions on the Internet, for your reference. I believe that you have been an idealistic, visionary, and ambitious young man since a young age. Therefore, when the Tiananmen Square protests broke out, you were able to show full confidence and play the role of a leader. However, as a leader, you must have basic self-requirements of judgment and independent thinking abilities. Similarly, as the person in charge of the Want Want Group, I, just like you, require myself to follow strict standards. Do you believe that I would make such thoughtless “simple” remarks in an interview with the international media? With regard to your personal comments and criticisms against me based on an one-sided and fragmented report by The Washington Post, I would like to ask you to verify the full transcript of my interview with Andrew Higgins, the contributing reporter for The Washington Post. If my original intention and the content of my conversation are disrespectful to the people in mainland China who suffered in the Tiananmen Square protests, or if I did anything that betrayed the people in Taiwan in any way, I would be more than willing to solemnly apologize. Similarly, should you also give me justice? For The Washington Post's out-of-context, one-sided misinterpretation of the content of my interview, I will send a letter asking to restore the truth and deal with it appropriately. As for some senior critics who criticized me without verification in the past two days, I will sincerely invite them to communicate with me face-to-face to clarify the facts and the causes of the situation. Thank you for your comment. I hope that the truth of this incident can be revealed as soon as possible to avoid any distortions and misunderstandings. Tsai Eng-meng, President of Want Want Group
